About Abigail Collins
Abigail and her father Edward were captured, 12 April 1779, by Indians who were allied with the British. They were held captive for 21 months. It has been learned that Abby had a half Indian baby boy during her captivity. Joseph raised the boy as his own. The boy was probably named Joesph. It was said that he was tall and slender and had dark hair and eyes. The times being what they were this must have been a mixed blessing to Abby. This mixture of Byram and American Indian blood truly binds the Byrams with the continent of America. Edward, her father and Abigail suffered greater Revolutionary War hardships than perhaps other members of the Byram family. After Joseph died Abigail lived with her son-in-law William Greer, PA.
There is a book available called "Abby and Her Father that tells about her father, Edward, and her being captured.
