Biography

Abigail was born at Concord, Massachusetts on January 19, 1669/70, daughter of Thomas Goble and and Mary (___) . [1] [2]

She married Joseph Dudley at Concord on on February 25, 1690/1. [1] Joseph Dudley was born at Concord in 1666/7, son of Francis Dudley and Sarah Wheeler. [3]

The division of her Thomas Goble's estate was disputed and took many years to determine the benefactors of his lands. Included in the beneficiaries were: Abigail Goble, and later Joseph Dudley on behalf of Abigail (Goble) his wife. [4]

Joseph Dudley intestate died at Concord on November 3, 1702 [1] [3], and initially widow Abigail was appointed administrator his estate on February 1, 1702/3. [5]

His widow Abigail died on December. 19, 1705. [1] John Wheeler was appointed guardian to their daughter Abigail, 'a minor thirteen years & upward' on January 1, 1705/6, with Francis Dudley and Thomas Goble providing surety. [5] [6]

John Wheeler was then appointed administrator, and presented the estate inventory on January 10, 1705/6, valued at L99: 9 prior to funeral expenses, administration costs etc. The personal estate of L13: 6: 5 was set off for the children as follows:

to eldest son Joseph, double portion - L3: 8: 11: 3 [5]
to Benjamin, Abigail, Jane, Sarah, Mary and Syblil - L1: 14: 5: 3 1/2 each [5] On January 29, 1707, John Wheeler submitted a letter acknowledging guardianship of the other children, being:

Jane, Sarah, Joseph, Benjamin, Mary and Sybil Dudley [7] [3] In the final accounting by John Wheeler, of the settlement of Joseph Dudley's real estate in September, 1718, the following signed acknowledgement of notice or were listed among the distributions:

Jonathan Marble, husband of Sarah Samuel Wood, husband of Jane John Davis, husband to Alice Jonathan Brown, Sybil (illegible) Joseph Dudley John Wheeler as guardian to Mary Dudley and Benjamin Dudley Sybil Dudley [5] Children
