About Abigail [Hendrick] Pengry
edit 1/22/2021
During the Witchcraft craze in New England, no one being safe, Mrs. Morse was accused, tried, and condemned to hanged as a Witch! She was reprieved and finally released, possible through the influence and aid of Robert Pike, who was a brother of John Hendrick's mother. He was a man of education and influence, and acted as attorney for several who were accused of Witchcraft.

Biography
Abigail Morse was born to William Morse February 14, 1652 in Newbury, Massachusetts.[1][2]
Abigail Morse married first in about 1677 John Hendrick, at Newbury Massachusetts,[3] who died about 1692. She then married Moses Pingree (Pengrey, Pengree, etc), with whom she had a daughter Abigail Pingree ca 1695. Her second husband left a will dated Dec 1699 in Massachusetts stating he was going to (South) Carolina where his wife had already moved.[citation needed] That will was probated in Ipswitch in 1709. The will disposed of the MA property from his first marriage, to his son.[citation needed] One can only conclude he died before 1709, perhaps in South Carolina. As there is no further reference to Abigail in Massachusetts, her death may have been in South Carolina.
