Abigail Minor was born on 6 Feb 1680 and was the 9th child of 10 children by Capt. John Minor and Elizabeth Booth Minor. John and Elizabeth were married on 19 Oct. 1658 in Stratford, Conneticut and had 4 boys (John 1659, Thomas 1662, Joseph 1672, and Ephriam 1675) and 6 girls (Hannah 1664, Elizabeth 1667, Grace 1670, Sarah 1678, Abigail 1680, and Joanna 1683). John was town clerk for many years and then the family moved to Woodbury, Ct. where he died on 17 Sept 1719 and Elizabeth died on 24 Oct 1732.
John was a Captain in the Royal Colonial Service during the bloody King Philips War against the Indians 1675 - 76 and received land grants in North New Fairfield and Newtown for his service. Abigail was born in Woodbury after this war. She married John Treadwell in Woodbury on 8 Feb 1699. There were Minor relatives still in Stratford so it is possible that she met John Treadwell of Stratfield during a visit to Stratford. At this time Woodbury was a frontier town in the French-Indian War and she might have been staying in Stratford to avoid Indian attacks. John Treadwell died on 15 Aug 1713.
Abigail married the second time to LT. Richard Miles on 22 Nov 1721. Her sons John 16 and Hezekiah 14, chose Mr. Joseph Booth of Stratfield as guardian at this time, and the court appointed Mr. Thomas Hawley guardian for Ephriam, 11 and Jabez,6. Ephriam chose Joseph Booth for guardian, 27 July 1728 when he was 18 years old. Joseph Booth was probably adescendant of their grandmother, Elizabeth Booth Minor.
Thomas Hawley of Stratfield was an executorof John Treadwell's will in 1716. Adoniram, their first son, obtained 100 acres of land from his father/ Minor estate near New Milford in 1729. On 20 May 1740, Hezechia Treadwell of Statford and Ephriam Treadwell of Farmington were coveyed the right in Newton common land which descended to them from father John of Stratfield, deceased.
