ABRAHAM ANNIS was born December 13, 1805 at Madison Co., NY; died May 13, 1870 at Essex Township, Clinton, Michigan; married circa 1827, Lucretia H. Champney {1806-1859} at Covington, New York, and had seven children; married 2nd, circa 1850, Sarah Shepard Howard at Essex, Michigan, no issue. Abraham removed to Ohio circa 1835 and was at Putnam, Livingston County, Michigan by 1847. He removed to Essex Township, near St. John, Michigan, before 1860 and is buried at a small cemetery on Lowe Road (Lowe cemetery, Essex Township). His gravestone identifies him as "Abram Annis", while his wife, Lucretia's stone calls him Abraham. Abraham was a farmer, and there may have been other children. Abraham & Lucretia lived in New York State after their marriage, perhaps in Genesee Co., NY before moving to Mina Twp., Chautauqua Co., NY by 1829. They went to Gustavus Twp., Trumbull Co., Ohio by 1834, where sons Andrew & William were born and daughter Elisa Mahala died. It is supposed that Abraham's parents also moved to Gustavus with the young family. The parents both died in Gustavus, Ohio. Abraham was a farmer. On 1 March 1847, he bought 55 acres of land in Putnam Twp. & 40 acres in Marion Twp., Livingston Co., Mich., near his brother Benjamin Annis Jr. Abraham & Lucretia stayed there until sometime in 1857, when they moved to Clinton Co., Mich. & settled on a farm in Essex Twp.
