Revolutionary War pension application of Abraham Womack's widow, Lucy (nee Moody) Womack:

No. W6602

"On June 1, 1855 in Bibb County Superior Court in Georgia, Lucy Womack, 74, filed a claim stating that she is the identical Lucy Womack who intermarried with Abraham Womack in the
County of Jones in the State of Georgia on May 8th, 1825; by one Stephen Renfroe, JP, that her maiden name was Lucy Moody; that she was in the 44th year of her age at the time of her
marriage to Abraham Womack; that he died in Monroe County Georgia April 10th, 1834 leaving her his widow; and that she remains his widow; that he served in the revolution against Great Britain. That he was at the time a citizen of Chatham County North Carolina and served as a soldier in the said war of the revolution 3 or more tours or terms of service and was in the Battle at Briar Creek and was in said battle wounded over the left eye -- which wound from its great violence war from improper and unskillful treatment was painful and troublesome to him as long as he lived. That on the first day of January A.D. 1786 said Abraham Womack removed from Chatham County North Carolina to Hancock County Georgia, and from Hancock County Georgia to Jones County Georgia where deponent and said Abraham were married & afterwards removed to Monroe County Georgia. That at his death he left the annexed original recommendation & certificate of service in the war of the revolution the same bearing date of the first day of January 1786. She also states in the same document that she had no children and never did have any children."

"State of North Carolina Chatham County: Viz. me Certify that the Bearer Abraham Wammock hath been and Inhabitant of this County many years, that he hath Supported and Unblemished Character, as an honest well-meaning man, and that during the late Contest between America and Great Britain, he manifested a great firmness and Activity in the defense of his Country -- he is therefore recommended to the good People of the United States for their Protection whatever he may go to settel.
