Adalgisa Gabbi was an Italian operatic soprano, who enjoyed a successful international career. She appeared in the world premiere of Leoncavallo’s opera ‘’Chatterton’’ in 1896 at the Teatro Drammatico Nazionale in Rome. In Italy she often sang with Tamagno and Maurel. The vast repertoire included many Verdi roles (Aida, Trovatore, Traviata and Otello) and Wagner (Tannhäuser, Tristan and Isolde). She also starred in Les Huguenots and L'africain of Meyerbeer, Le Guarany de Gomes and Faust of Gounod.
