ADAM GORDON OF CAIRSTON

Servitor of Robert Stewart, Earl of Orkney

Adam Gordon of Cairston is the eldest son and heir of William Gordon of Cairston and his wife Isobel Broun. He and his mother gave their consent when his father gave a tenement of land in Kirkwall to William Robertson and his wife Helen Mure on 21 January 1603. Registrum Magni Sigilli Regum Scotorum: Register of the Great Seal of Scotland,1609-20, charter number 2037 He is noticed in the witness list of a charter issued by Robert Stewart, Earl of Orkney, on 12 October 1591, wherein he is identified as a servitor of the Earl. Registrum Magni Sigilli Regum Scotorum: Register of the Great Seal of Scotland, 1580-1593, charter number 2191
