About Patrick Gordon of Cairston
PATRICK GORDON OF CAIRSTON
Patrick Gordon of Cairston appears to have succeeded Adam Gordon, eldest son and heir of William Gordon of Cairston and his wife Isobel Broun. He was probably in possession of Cairston on 12 September 1633. National Records of Scotland, Orkney Papers, reference GD190/3/199
He is noticed in possession of the Bull of Cairston in 1653 Scotlands Places: Land Tax Rolls for Orkney, p. 22 but he appears to have died before 1669 when William Gordon of Cairston had a charter from the Bishop of Orkney. National Records of Scotland, Miscellaneous papers, reference SC11/86/12
Marriage
Patrick Gordon of Cairston married Helen Mudie. Accoring to the Moodie Book, Helen is the eldest daughter of Francis Mudie of Melsetter and his first wife Margaret Stewart. They were married before 1621. The Moodie Book, p. 23
