Mrs Addie Essen, Resident of Marshalltown all her life, died at 11:30 O'clock Friday night at the Decaconess Hospital. She had been in failing health for about a year and been in more serious condition since last December. She had been a patient at the hospital several times. Death was due to a complication of the disease. She had been makeing her home with a daughter, Mrs W. H. Wolken, at 512 Bromely Street. She was born in Marshalltown on February 10, 1857, a daughter of George and Margaret Mary (Clink) Canfield. She was married twice and there were two childern by the frist marriage. Mrs Mertle Burroughs, who died 15 years ago, and Mrs Nellie Bellefeuille of this city. There were six childern by the second marriage, they were Claude Essen, Cresco, Bert Essen, Carl Essen, Jake Essen, and Mrs W.H. Wolken, Marshalltown, and Mrs C.T. Adams, Joplin Missouri. She is also survied by 4 step children, Henry Essen, Marshalltown, John Essen, Iowa Falls, Mrs. C.C. Williams, Albion, and Mrs G.R. Tanyer, Marshalltown. eleven grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren,. Mrs Essen attended the Methdodist church in her early life. The body will be at home until Monday morning when it will be taken to the Estel Funeral Home where services will be held at 1:30 O'clock Monday afternoon in charge of Reverend H. C. Schluter, pastor of the State Street Evengelical Church. Burial will be in the Rock Valley Cemetery 4 miles east of the city . (Great grandmother)
