About Adella "Addie" (Brooks) Kilburn

MANCHESTER, VT Adella "Addie" Brooks Kilburn, 84, died peacefully at home on May 8, 2010, surrounded by her family, after a seven year battle with cancer.

Adella, born on Feb. 23, 1926, in North Rupert, was the daughter of William H. and Cora Bourn Brooks and the step-daughter of Mary Walsh Brooks.

Adella was predeceased by her husband, Arthur "Dee" Kilburn, to whom she was married for 63 years. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Gerald, Peter, William H., Corliss J., and Jerome W. Adella's son-in-law, Edward Cutler, also died May 8, 2010.

She leaves her sister, Mary Brooks Hubbard; her brother John and his wife, Shirley; her brother Robert and his wife, Lorraine, and her brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Theodore and Edith Kilburn, Eva Lou Kilburn and Yvonne Kilburn.

In addition to raising 10 children and being Grandma to 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, Adella's life of giving to the community and her neighbors included nurse's training during World War II, coaching girls' softball, volunteering at the Manchester Thrift Shop, as well as active participation in her church choir.

Adella leaves her children, Marlene Cutler, Michael and Astri Kilburn, Teresa and Richard Kennedy, Jeffrey and Candace Kilburn, Mark Kilburn, Mary and Robert Sanderson, Arthur and Bonnie Kilburn, Scott and Kelly Kilburn, Rose and Jordan Smith, and Denise and Lewis "Bucky" Tuttle. She also leaves her grandchildren, Bryce Cutler, Nikki Jo Greene, Bjorn Kilburn, Kaja Kilburn, Andy Kennedy, Heather Mackie, Heath Kennedy, Tenaya Bannon, Dinetah Sims, Troy Kilburn, Karen Campbell, Anne Simonds, Stacy Briggs, Jeremiah Kilburn, Arthur Kilburn, Taylor Smith, Carson Smith, Gunner Tuttle, and Kyle Tuttle, as well as her great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

FUNERAL NOTICE: There will be no calling hours. The Mass of Christian Death and Burial will be offered at Christ Our Savior Roman Catholic Church in Manchester on Wednesday, May 12, at 11 a.m. A private burial will take place at the St. Jerome Cemetery in East Dorset at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to one's favorite charity or to in care of BREWSTER FUNERAL SERVICE, PO Box 885, Manchester, VT 05255. Brewster Funeral Service in Manchester has been entrusted with the care of Adella's funeral arrangements.
