Agnes Elizabeth (8) , was an accomplished pianist, both in classical and popular music. She was also a horsewoman and outdoor sport. She married Bernard Beinecke, Jr of New York. Unfortunately, Bernard was a victim of epilepsy and died following a gall bladder operation in 1937. Agnes died shortly thereafter in 1937 and is buried in Monrovia, California. They had two children: Helen Scarlette Beinecke, b. 1905, and Theodora Johanna Beinecke, b. 1908.

Bernhard was known by his many friends as Ben, he was born on June 15, 1876 at New York City, he was the eldest of four very close brothers, all of whom graduated from Yale University. Ben was later to become the Western Division Manager of the Sperry &
Hutchinson Company, (S&H Green Stamps), a family owned enterprise. Ben and Agnes
Became active members in the San Gabriel Country Club.
Ben met Agnes at Big Timber, Montana, She was born Agnes Elizabeth Van Cleve on
February 23, 1878 at Big Timber Montana, they were married on October 19, 1904.
They had two daughters, the eldest, Helen Scarlett Beinecke was born on July 21, 1905
At Leipzig Germany, she died on March 6, 1937 at Covina California, she is buried in the
Beinecke plot in Live Oak Cemetery, Monrovia, California.
The second daughter was Theodora Alice Johanna Beinecke, born April 15, 1908 at
Melville, Montana, she died in San Diego California on September 14, 1967 and is also
buried along side her father, mother and sister in the family plot at Live Oak Cemetery.
Theo as she was known had two children, a son Thomas F. Burgess, born on May
25,,1927 at Pasadena, California, now residing in New Zealand, and a daughter Linda
Lewis bttle born September 23, 1933 at Coronado California, AKA Linda L. Truesdale.
Linda resides in San Diego California.
· Ben Beinecke died at his home at 602 West Maple Street on July 9, 1937, and his wife of
33 years Agnes Elizabeth Beinecke died at home as well on October 5, 1937 and is
buried along side Ben in the family plot at Live Oak Cemetery.
602 West Maple holds many ofmy fondest memories of a time long passed, of a time of
gentle innocence, of lazy summers and clear air. I know because I lived that time at 602
