About Albert B. Hogle

Couple of Differences from the Jerome Record.

Contained in an unpublished and incomplete work; Smith family : descendants of George and Barbara (Bash) Smith of Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and Coshocton County, Ohio, whose children migrated westward through Hancock County, Indiana, and Madison County, Iowa : with allied lines of Bash, Waters, Ruby, Hogle, and Murphy. Indianapolis, Ind.?: unknown, 1946.

In that Document Albert is not even mentioned, whereas Jessie in her Journal makes it totally clear when she says, "Albert Hogle + Wm. Hogle my Grandfather were Brothers."

Then she goes on to validate Violett "Lettie" Hogle that is not mentioned on the only census of that family together in 1850 as a unit. Lists her husbands, her daughters and their husbands.

Albert and Polly Maine his wife must have come to Michigan in about 1843 and settled in Ionia, MI

Martha their eldest was born in New York in 1842, the next child in that family George was born in 1844 in Michigan along with the rest of their family.

It is Well know that his Father Moses and Brother William were in Ionia, Michigan in 1835. It would seem that Albert, Polly his wife, Electa his Mother and Lousia his sister and his Daughter Martha came to Michigan in 1843 prior to George's birth in 1844 lead to the area by Moses his Father. Who shows up in Murray, Orleans, New York on the 1840 Census. With Just enough people in the household to account for Moses, Electa, Albert, Albert's his Wife Polly, and Lousia his sister.

It's my guess then that Moses had secured land with eldest Son William in Ionia, Michigan, gone back to New York to settle affairs late in 1840 and returned by 1844 to Ionia, MI as WIlliam remained in Michigan on the 1840 Census with his new Wife Laura Tirrell and Son Gilbert B. Hogle to keep an eye on things.
