About William B. Hogle

Biography:

William Hogle came to Michigan probably about 1835, and settled in Ionia County, where he was married and became a prominent and well-to-do citizen. His first purchase was a tract of Government land, which was mostly covered with timber, and the family settled in the Woods and suffered all the hardships and privations of pioneer life. There was born to them a large family of children, the following of whom survive: Gilbert B.; Josephine, a resident of this county; Erwin, living in Calhoun County; Emma, the wife of Earl Raymond, of Sandstone Township; Augusta, Mrs. Tripp, of California; Belle is the wife of Andrew Watts, of Spring Arbor Township; Dora is living in California. and Carrie is the wife of Frank Wellman, of Sandstone Township. William Hogle was prominent in local affairs, and while a resident of Ionia County, served as a Justice of the Peace. Politically, he was a stanch Democrat, the friend of education and progress, and deeply interested in the welfare of his adopted county. He died at the homestead in Standstone Township. November 18, 1882. 11 is wife Laura survived him a few years, and died in Sandstone Township, February 28, 1887.

Contained in an unpublished and incomplete work; Smith family : descendants of George and Barbara (Bash) Smith of Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and Coshocton County, Ohio, whose children migrated westward through Hancock County, Indiana, and Madison County, Iowa : with allied lines of Bash, Waters, Ruby, Hogle, and Murphy. Indianapolis, Ind.?: unknown, 1946.

William's Mother is listed as Electa on the Michigan Death Record Index Not Cynthia, but she was a Rider, Roxy's Sister Electa Symonds Rider, The Jerome Record does not account for all 13 Children, only 8.
