Albert (63), was tied up and tortured to death on his smallholding in Sundra, in Mpumalanga. He was found in his room with his hands and knees bound with electrical cables. The number of perpetrators is not known. They gained access through a kitchen window.
Those who found Albert said that the crime scene indicated there was a massive struggle, and that the scene was gruesome.
It would appear that the motive was not robbery, as cash and Albert's cell phone were found on the kitchen table.
