CONNEAUT - - Alden C. Lang, age 88, of Conneaut, Ohio, died Sunday morning, July 23, 2006, at St. Vincent's Health Center, Erie, Pennsylvania. He was born March 9, 1918 in Melby, Minnesota, and was the son of Andrew and Mary (Ekstedt) Lang. Mr. Lang worked on the family farm in his early years, later sailing on the Great Lakes, then as a machinist for R.M.I. in Ashtabula. He also served with the Merchant Marines. Alden's garage was a favorite daily gathering place for many of his friends. He enjoyed fixing or repairing most anything, from cars to lawn mowers. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, the Elks, and the Moose Lodge. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Aino A. (Jamsen) Lang; two grandchildren, Kris Lang of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Kelly Lang of Breckenridge, Colorado; three great-grandchildren, Conor, Brennen, and Erin Lang; two sisters, Pherne Gawlik of Sun City, Arizona, and Mae Farr of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and his brother, Ken Lang of Isle, Minnesota. Mr. Lang was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Tim Lang, on January 25, 2004; and nine brothers and sisters. Graveside Service will be at 2 p.m., Friday, July 28, 2006, in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville, Ohio, with the Reverend Franklin Gore, pastor of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, officiating. Friends and family will gather at Alden's garage following the Graveside Service.

Friends may call at the MARCY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 208 Liberty Street, Conneaut, Ohio, on Thursday, July 27, 2006, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Conneaut Rescue Squad. Envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.
