Aleda Tennora Lee

Aleda Tennora Nystel was born May 7, 1917, near Lawler, the daughter of Iver and Martha (Kjarvik) Nystel. She was baptized on July 1, 1917 and confirmed on April 19, 1931 at Crane Creek Lutheran Church. She attended country school near her home. After her schooling she worked as a housekeeper for Rev. Finstad at the Crane Creek Church Parsonage, and also various other families in the area.

On June 1, 1937 she was united in marriage to Arthur Lee at the Crane Creek Lutheran Church. After their marriage the couple resided and farmed in various places near New Hampton. The couple was married for 62 years. Aleda was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the WELCA (Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America). She was also an active member of the Jacksonville Historians (5 Corners). She loved flowers, going to garage sales, and grocery shopping with friends. She was also known by many for the genealogical records she kept of her friends and family.

She is survived by her husband Arthur of New Hampton; 2 daughters, Marlys (Wayne) Hart of Loves Park, IL and Adis Lee of New Hampton; 1 son Carlyle (Peggy) Lee of Durand, IL; 5 grandchildren: David and Dennis Hart, Tony and Kevin Lee, and Tracy Lee; 6 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Evelyn (Lawrence) Stansbery of Waterloo; and 1 brother, Raymond Nystel of New Hampton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 4 brothers: Arthur, Ivan, Kenneth, and Edward; 4 sisters: Myrtle Irene in infancy, Engeborg Maria "Mae" Njus, Hazel Lee, and Mavis Olson.

Aleda, 82, died Saturday, April 8, at the New Hampton Nursing & Rehab Center of complications from a brain tumor. Burial will be at Crane Creek Cemetery.
