    • *From notes by Alice Alison Agins: "It turns out that Alexander had slaves...at this writing I do not have any more information about this".
      • From Kathleen Browning: "Alex Browning had a very nice farm in northern MO before the Civil War. He was a Southern man and did not get along too well where he was . . . so he sold and was "skunked" on the sale, and moved to McDonald Co. He is thought to have owned slaves. It seems they had lived in IL before moving to MO.
      • From notes by NEH - Alexander Washington Browning came from Tenn to MO sometime between 1812 & 1842 when Isaiah was born in Barry County. He was in Washington Co. ARK from 1845 thru 1850. Was back in MO by 1852 when Eliza Jane was born and probably was Barry Co. as he received bounty land there. Moved to McDonald Co. later - before 1872 as land records show.
