MEMORIAL PHOTOS 3 FLOWERS 1 Son of Charles Peyton and Judah Moman. Married Paulina Rowsey 14 Jul 1857 at Sarah Heath's home in Cabell County, West Virginia. Alexander and Paulina were the parents of Isabelle, Phyannah, Mary Ellen, Alzada, Alue, Luvada, William E., Viola M., Ulysses S., James O., Lenora, Charles R. and Dora.

There is an interesting story about the tombstone. It was originally facing east, toward the fence. Vandals had knocked the marker over and when the cemetery sextons reset the marker they faced it in the wrong direction. They had no way of knowing which way the stone was originally set. I have been visiting these graves for 30 years and know it was facing the other way. This means the stone is now marking the wrong graves. Alexander's name is on the left side of the stone, but the grave you see on the left in the photo is Paulina's. This would make sense according to Christian burials with the head at the western end of the grave so they are facing east. The husbands are also buried on the left, the wife to the right. So if you stand at the back side of the marker, facing the marker, Alexander is on the left and Paulina is on the right.
