Text: Tack for 19 years by Alexander Stewart of Garules with consent of Robert Lord Maxwell and John Gordoun of Lochinvar his curators, "to ane worschipfull man and my cousins" Walter Stewart and to John and Archibald Stewart his sons and the longest liver of the three, of the 40/- worth of his lands of Barclay and his 25/- lands of [Meikle] Dalnaw in the barony of Garules Dates 6 Nov 1523The granter appends his seal "of myn armis" together with the seals of his two curators. At Dumfries. wit:- Alexander McKee, Florence Steward, Gilbert Holyday, Archibald Portewus and James McKee. Signed by granter and curators. no tag or seals.

Text: Discharge by Robert Lord Maxwell superior of the lands of ye Grenane extending to a 21 merkland lying in Glenken within the parish of Dalry, to Alexander Stewart of ye Garules son and heir of the deceast Sir Alexander Stewart of ye Garules and to Mr. Archibald Stewart parson of Kirkmaho his tutor, for the maills, fermes, grassums dewties and all other profits of the said lands owed to him as superior and overlord of the same, for the nonentries of the said deceast Sir Alexander and his heirs therein prior to the making hereof either by gift or authority of the Crown granted to the said Robert who affixes his seal of arms thereto Dates 10 Jan 1517At Dumfries. Wit:- Roger McBrayre provost of Dumfries, John [ ] John Tode, Schir Thomas Connelsoun and Mr. John McGhee. Signed by the granter. Paper deed. Seal (broken) still impressed thereon.
