A servant to Henry Vane who came to Massachusetts Bay in 1635 on the Defense or the Abigail & first settled at Boston MA. He moved to Braintree by 1640, & to Rehoboth by 1644. He was born about 1612 (based on estimated date of marriage).

He died between 4 June 1647 (date of will) and 16 July 1647 (death of widow). (Savage stated that he died on 16 July 1647, but that was the date of death of his widow.)

He married by 1637 _____ _____ [there is reliable no proof of her name]. She died on 16 July 1647. No connection has been found between this immigrant and JOHN WINCHESTER {1635, Hingham}. Source: Anderson's Great Migration Study Project.

Alexander sailed from London aboard the ship, "Defence" in August, 1635. He reached Boston two months later, in October of 1635.

He was made a freeman December 7, 1636, and settled in Braintree, Massachusetts.

He married Sarah Brown in 1637, in Braintree, Massachusetts.[citation for this name & event required]

Alexander and Sarah were the parents of four daughters and made their home at Rehoboth, Massachusetts in 1643.

  • 3. Ann (Hannah) Winchester-Winechurst 1642 [No evidence is known that Ann/Hannah either married or lived beyond 1697.]
  • 4. Leah "Lydia" Winchester 1646

He was a Representative from Braintree in 1641, Ensign of the Braintree company and member of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Boston.

If records are correct, Alexander and wife Sarah died of reasons unrecorded on the same day, July 16, 1647 at their home in Rehoboth.

Their four daughters, ages one year through ten years were left orphans.
