The Potocki family was not persecuted by the Germans during World War II , and Łańcut castle housed the Wehrmacht headquarters . Before the entry of the Red Army on August 1, 1944, Alfred Potocki managed to escape to the West and, with the Germans' permission, took away many of the castle's properties. Łańcut castle was not damaged during the hostilities of World War II.
