About Alice Brashears

Parents unknown . She was not the daughter of Capt. Thomas Sprigg - there was no Alice Sprigg.

Alice renounced her right as heir to Thomas Jackson's estate in 1679. She was married to Robert Brashear at this time. Robert Brashear was given considerable property by his mother, which he later sold a little at a time.

Second wife was ALICE JACKSON (widow of Thomas JACKSON)

A Brashear(s) Family History, Vol. 2 Robert C. Brashear of North Carolina and Some Descendants of Tn, Ky, Mo, Tx, etc.; pg 14: "We do not know who Robert’s first wife was, but she was mother of the children, for he didn’t marry his second wife, Alice, widow of Thomas Jackson, until 1679, when she renounced her right to administer the estate of her deceased husband, Thomas Jackson. All of Robert’s children were born before this. Some researchers have thought Alice was possibly a daughter of Thomas Sprigg, but the Sprigg genealogy does not document an Alice at this time. Nor does the fairly detailed will of Thomas Sprigg."
