Mrs. Alice Eyre

Mrs. Alice Eyre died at her home in this city Tuesday evening, July 9,1901, after a protracted illness.

Alice Catton was born April 11, 1824, at Copwick, England. She wasmarried to George Eyre in 1842 and came to America about 47 years agosettling in Michigan. They came to Illinois about 11 years later andsettled near Fairbury. Eight children wereborn to this union, 6still living; James and Will of Chicago, Mrs. Thompson of La Harpe,Edward of Kewanee, George of Buckley, and Mrs. Mary Ferguson, ofSalem, Oregon, all of whom except the latter, with their wives andhusbands were present at the funeral. Among the others present were asister and two brothers Mrs. Hodson and Thomas Catton of Brimfield andJohn Catton of Galva.

24 years ago the husband and father died. Sister Eyre was dedicatedto God in baptism when a child. She has been a faithful member of theM. E. church for 40 years and on July 9, 1901, she closed her earthlypilgrimage with faith in God and hope in immortality.

The funeral services were held at the M. E. church Thursday at 2:30p.m., Rev. E. S. Wilson officiating, and the remains were laid to restin the Fairbury cemetery.Fairbury Blade Fairbury, IL (Livingston Co.)
