He married (1) 1693 Mary Strickland Weed, born at Stamford,Connecticut,,,, died 31 March 1714 at Stamford,Connecticut,,,, daughter of Edmund Strickland and Hannah Unknown.

She married Josias Furman in 1649 in Newtown (now Elmhurst). They had eight children: John in 1650, Josias (Jr.) in 1853, Elizabeth about 1655, Joseph in 1656, Samuel in 1658, Jonathan in 1662, Martha in 1666 and David, whose birth year is unknown.

She died in Newtown, which is now called Elmhurst.
