Obituary

Alice I. Lawrence, age 78, passed away on Monday, August 7, 2000, at the St. Joseph's Nursing Home in Hillsboro.

She was born on April 25, 1922, to Pearl and Isa (Melvin) Campbell at La Farge. She grew to adulthood in the La Farge area and graduated from La Farge High School. She was united in marriage to Delbert J. "Mike” Lawrence on September 21, 1940, in Waukon, IA. They lived all of their married life in the Hillsboro area. He preceded her in death on September 18, 1973.

Survivors include three daughters, Colleen Ellison of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Christine Lawrence of Baraboo, and Cozette (Wayne) Austin of Stoughton; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Darlene (Bill) Weirick of Eagle River; and two nephews, Kent (Joyce) and Bradley (Carolyn) Steinmetz, both of La Farge. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Conrad; a brother, Berlie Campbell; a sister and her husband, Hope and Earl Steinmetz; and two nephews, Richard Steinmetz and Berlie Campbell, Jr.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2000, at 10:30 a.m. at the Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro, with Tom Myers officiating. Burial will be in the Bear Creek Cemetery near La Farge. Friends may call on Wednesday, August 9, 2000, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Picha Funeral Home.
