Alonzo Huntington

I keep trying to add the range of his birth year....but it doesn't seem to be showing up! I have found years from 1808 to 1812, and possibly even up to 1817...but I think the 1817 is too late. CB, 1/25/09

This info. was found on Ancestry.com, 8/5/05. It was listed in the 1870 U.S. Census for Bellmont, Franklin County, NY.

Someone else has found the link, but all dates and places that I have seem to match correctly. ! Hurrah! CB

1860 Burke, Franklin Cnty, NY Census shows:

    Alonzo Huntington, age 43 M, a "carpenter", born in Vermont     (I THINK THIS AGE IS WRONG...THE 1870 CENSUS LISTS HIM AS ABOUT 13 YEARS OLDER THAN LAURA)

Heritage Quest, online genealogy source, the book, "The Hazen Family in America", page 535, shows Alonzo first married "____? Chamberlain,, and 2nd, Laura Durkee. This is also where I found the info on his parents. It is with the info on their son, George, who married Eliza Ann Hazen. 1/12/06 CB

I will put in approximate dates as I can figure them from the Census records, but will update them as I find confirmation of specific dates.

The next Census was the 1870 CENSUS FOR BELLMONT, FRANKLIN, NEW YORK. POST OFFICE LISTED AS "CHATEAUGUY LAKE!"

My great uncle Ray, Grandma Lila's little brother, had told me that he remembered being told the family was from New York, a place called Chateaugay!  After years of searching we seem to have found it....and confirmed what a great memory he had!)

The next Census was 1880 for 1880 DAKOTA TERRITORY, TWP. 103, RANGE 58, SERIES T9 ROLL 112 PAGE 463/

On this same page several of the family are listed, it seems they are in several households, so they may have all homesteaded an area together.

I have not been able to find an 1830, 1840, or 1850 Census yet. Some of the years on the Census I do have do not match up, but the names all seem to. I will put in dates in "ranges" where there are discrepancies.
