Ambrose Fowler was born in Dalbury Lees, England, the son of William Fowler and Sarah (Tapp) Fowler. He married Jane Alvord on 06 May 1646 in Connecticut.

Ambrose, only son of William Fowler, was at Windsor as early as 1640. The records of that town mention the burning of his house and barn in 1675. He was married there May 6, 1646, to Jane Alvord, who died May 6, 1684, at Westfield. He died October 18, 1704. His will was made in 1692 and proved in 1706. His children, all. of whom were residents of Windsor, Connecticut, were: Abigail, John, Mary, Samuel, Hannah, Elizabeth and Ambrose.

Biography

William Fowler was a magistrate of colonial New Haven, Connecticut. His name is listed among the members of Rev. John Warham's church in 1640. In 1641, William worked on a committee to settle boundaries betweenPoquonnuck and Uncowny. A genealogy of his son Ambrose is noted below.
On 06 May 1646 at Windsor, Connecticut, Ambrose Fowler married Jane Alvord.<ref>Connecticut: Vital Records (The Barbour Collection), 1630-1870 (Online Database: AmericanAncestors.org, New England Historic Genealogical Society, 2011.) From original typescripts, Lucius Barnes Barbour Collection, 1928. (marriage to Joane Alford). Windsor p. 102</ref> Ambrose's house and barn burned down in 1675 at Windsor, Connecticut. Ambrose's will was proven in 1706, he named seven children, all recorded at Windsor:

  2. John b. 06 Nov 1648, m(1) Mercy Miller of Northampton;
  3. Mary, b. 15 May 1650, m(1) Fearnot King 14 May 1677;

  5. Hannah, b. 20 Dec 1651, m. James Sexton of Westfield;
  6. Elizabeth, b. 02 Dec 1656, d. unmarried;
  7. Ambrose, b. 08 May 1658, m. Mary Baker.
