He enlisted November 1779 for the war; the record states; "Residence, Sturbridge, age 16, stature 5 ft. 4 in." In October, 1780, he was stationed at West Point, where he was detailed as one of the guards over major Andre', and saw executed.

Revolutionary War veteran Inscription: Amos Boyden born April 15, 1763 died April 1, 1837. Enlisted in the Revolutionary Army 1779. Discharged 1783. His wives, Abigail Welch Boyden died August 17, 1803. Abigail Woods Boyden died May 14, 1846.
