Amos, known as Ed, was a farm laborer mostly working in WV and Ohio. He had driven truck from Akron, OH to Chicago with his brother-in-law Claude Thorne. Known a good teamster with horses he started working at age 15 in the local oil fields around Leroy WV. He would later work in Putnam Co. WV in the oil drilling business. He had worked in Indiana drilling as well. He worked for his nephews Delmar and Dale Pursley in farming beef and dairy. His work took him and his family to Champaign Co and Mt. Eaton Ohio. He was buried at Liverpool Methodist Cemetery, a church in which he and his wife Della were members . He was first married to Alma Dove Hawkins. They had 3 boys Stanley, Gary and Bill.
