About Amy Hill
Amy Hoskin Hill died in San Rafael, California, on August 8, 1984, at the age of 93. She attended Denver University and Colorado State Teachers College. During her long career, she taught school in Colorado for fifteen years, was appointed by President Calvin Coolidge as the first postmistress in Arapahoe, Colorado, in 1927, and again by President Herbert Hoover in 1931. She and her husband, T.H. "Harry" Hill, operated hotels and resorts in Colorado and California.
Mrs. Hill moved with the family in 1954 to Stinson Beach, California, where the family operated Sea Downs Resort. After taking up writing, at the late age of 70, she managed to publish three books: Murder on the Mountain, a murder mystery; Thoughts Expressed, a book of poetry and poetic prose uncovering her thoughts during a lifetime of hardships and contentment; and Hindsights, a collection of early Colorado family history and stories written in collaboration with her husband, Harry Hill.
