About Levinia Champion

Hugh was a Cornish hard-rock miner, who had promised to send for Levinia and had arranged for them to be married the day she arrived. Levinia spent her entire married life in Central City, Colorado.

Life was not easy for Levinia and Hugh. At the time of Hugh’s death at age 48, four of their ten children had died. For the 26 years of her life following Hugh’s death, Levinia was forced to take in boarders and laundry to support herself and her family. By the time Levinia died at age 75, two more children had died. Hugh, Levinia and many of their children and grandchildren are buried in Central City.
