Ana de Olivares was the daughter of Alonso Sanz de Olivares y Ramirez de Marmol (Judge of the Royal Audiencia of the Canary Islands) and Maria Maldonado Tafur, Lady of Chalcón de Safajona in Loja (Granada). She, in turn, was the daughter of the Conquistador of Granada, Francisco Fernández Maldonado, the first Lord of Zagra y del Chalcón, Knight of the Order of Santiago, Knight of the Order of the Golden Spur, Knight of the Band / Equites Bindae, and chief huntsman of the Catholic Monarchs (Queen Isabella I of Castile and King Ferdinand II of Aragon).
