About Diego González de Llarena, II

Diego Gonzalez de Llerena was Lord of the main Llarena Majorat, patron of the Chapel of San Pedro in La Orotava and captain of the provincial militias. On May 28, 1557 he was appointed perpetual governor of the island of Tenerife. The island Council received him on July 8 of that year.

Diego married Ana de Olivares, whose dowry was given in 1548. She was the daughter of Alonso Sanz de Olivares y Ramirez de Marmol (Judge of the Royal Audiencia of the Canary Islands) and Maria Maldonado Tafur, Lady of Chalcón de Safajona in Loja (Granada). She, in turn, was the daughter of the Conquistador of Granada, Francisco Fernández Maldonado, the first Lord of Zagra y del Chalcón, Knight of the Order of Santiago, Knight of the Order of the Golden Spur, Knight of the Band / Equites Bindae, and chief huntsman of the Catholic Monarchs (Queen Isabella I of Castile and King Ferdinand II of Aragon).
