Anand Sitaram (1942 - 2004)

Anand (61) was shot in the head when he was dropping off employees who worked on his farm in Hopewell on 5th July 2004. He passed away in a Pietermaritzburg hospital the following morning.

  • February 2007: Sphelele Mkhize (19) and Sphamandla Nqayi (20) were convicted of murder. State advocate Dheelan Naidoo requested life sentences be given to the men, saying that many violent crimes had been committed by young men. Judge President Vuka Tshabalala imposed the sentences.
