About Ananias Parker
Ananias Parker was a Slave who became free after the civil war. He was owned by Isaac Parker.
There is a civil war pension card for Ananias Parker. It shows that he served in the 137th USCT Regiment company H. More importantly, it shows he used the named John Taylor when he served. The 137 USCT was organized at Selma, Alabama. This may be why the family can't be found in the 1870 census. Civil War pensions files have proven to be a very valuable genealogy resource for many researchers. Miranda applied for Ananias's pension as his widow in 1918
