Last Rites Held For A.O. Lofstrom
Resident of Strandquist Territory for 49 Years Dies at Age of Seventy-Seven
Funeral services were held at the Bethesda Lutheran Church on Tuesday afternoon, December 3rd for A.O. Lofstrom, a resident of this community for the past 49 years.
Mr. Lofstrom had been ill for the past several years and for a large part of the time had been bedridden. Death came to relieve his sufferings on Friday evening at 6:30 P.M. at his home where he had been under the constant, loving care of his family. At the time of his death he had attained the ripe old age of 77 years, 10 months and 23 days.
Andrew Olaf Lofstrom was born on January 6, 1863 at Tosjo, Sweden and grew up to manhood in his native land. In 1889 he was united in marriage to Anna Christine Akerblome and to this union five children were born. He immigrated to this country in 1891 and filed a homestead claim in this community. Since that time the family has continuously resided in Marshall county except for three years when they lived in Roseau county.
An upright and neighborly man Mr. Lofstrom had earned a place of respect in the neighborhood. His early days in this community was devoted to the hard task of building up a home and farm out of the virgin land which existed here at that time.
He leaves, besides a host of friends, his wife; three daughters, Linda (Mrs. Charlie Braff of Cass Lake), Minnie (Mrs. George Koland of Hibbing), and Violet of Fargo, N.D.; one son, Hjalmer; a brother, Jonas of Alberta, Canada; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Holmgren of this place; in addition to 17 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Rev. Rob't Ericson officiated at the last rites, at which a large number of old-time friends were present to pay their last respects to the departed. Pall bearers were: Harry, Virgel, Morley and Loren Braff and Marven Lefrooth. Interment was made in the Bethesda cemetery. - Strandquist Press.
