Neil (Lachlan) married Ann (Neil "Geal") MacNeil (see #265) in Scotland. They came to Cape Breton in 1819 and their family: Michael and Ann who were born in Scotland, Donald who was the first MacLean to be born in Washabuck, Peter, Hector, Paul, Ann "Beag", Stephen, another daughter, and an infant who died on the the way to the New World and was buried on the Cape Breton Coast before the Ship "Anne" entered Sydney Harbour.
Ann "Bheag" married Michael MacNeil and had a family.

Ann married Neil McLean (Lauchlin), of Washabuck.
Issue: — Paul, who nearly reached the century mark; Peter, Hector, and Stephen who died while studying for the priesthood; a daughter who married Michael McNeil (Big) of Gillis Point and became the mother of Stephen B. McNeil and John Joe McNeil of Glace Bay, two prominent mine officials. Another daughter of Neil McLean married Philip McNeil of Gillis Point.
