Peter then married Ann Smith on 23 May 1840 in Grahamstown possibly because she was already pregnant with their daughter Ann who was born abt 1840. They were divorced because of his affair with Ann Pote where Sarah Mitchley witnesses them sleeping together at Beggars Bush.
