Peter Clarke DANIEL the brother of Sampson was married to Elizabeth JACKSON on 15 April 1802 and had the following children with her:
Peter Clarke * 6 Apr 1804
Isabella * 10 Sept 1806
Eliza Jane * 11 Mar 1810
Robert Clarke * 9 Oct 1813
The CLARKE surname comes from his mother who was Elizabeth CLARKE. It would appear that Elizabeth JACKSON was not a strong woman and so Ann MITCHLEY came to work for her and had an affair with her husband Peter which was to last for many years. Her first child seems to be Sarah born about 1808. She could have been the child of another man, but she testified in court against her father, Peter Clarke DANIEL, during his divorce from his second wife Ann SMITH. So one isn't sure whether she was a step daughter or not. She only came out to SA in 1826 and did not accompany her parents in 1820.

Dan Daniel is the best person to contact regarding this family as he has paid researchers and done a lot of research into the history of this very intriguing family. His address is dandaniel@telkomsa.net
Peter Clarke Daniel and Samson O'Malia Daniel were brothers. Their father was John Daniel married to Elizabeth Clarke. Peter married Elizabeth Jackson on 15 April 1802 at St. Werburgh's Parish, Dublin, Ireland. They had 4 children:
Peter Clarke * 6 Apr 1804 Isabella * 10 Sept 1806 Eliza Jane * 11 Mar 1810 Robert Clarke * 9 Oct 1813
From his affair with Ann Mitchley who may or may not have been married to a Mr Holland or Mitchley and who did not come to SA with her and did not die on the voyage:
Sarah Mitchley (who testified at the divorce of her father and was mentioned extensively in his will) Thomas Mitchley abt 1811 Samuel Mitchley * Sept 1813 aka Sampson Eliza or Elizabeth Mitchley * 1816 Ann Mitchley * 17 Mar 1819 David Mitchley * abt 1821 Frederick Mitchley * 19 Oct 1823 Jane Mitchley * 1825 John Daniels * abt 1828 (he took the Daniels surname) Peter Mitchley * 17 June 1830 (Dan Mitchley's line) Lisa Mitchley
Ann died 26 September 1838. In her DN as sent to me by Dan Mitchley her parents are listed as Thomas and Anne Mitchley with which Dan does not agree and says she was born a Holland and that her first husband was Thomas Henry Mitchley. The DN also seems to intimate that the first 6 children listed above are not those of Peter Daniel but from her marriage to Thomas although no mention is made of him on the DN. The DN (which I haven't seen) apparently lists the last four children as illegitimate and the DN is signed by Peter Daniel on 1 Nov 1838. I seem to remember something else about the Holland name but would have to try and find the info and send it later. I must admit that I stopped inputting the data because of all the controversy and I know there is more but details were clashing and not making sense. Dan is really the best person to speak to but as he says it depends on which descendants you speak to as to what story you get given and some of them get really upset about things and will deny the stories!
Peter then married Ann Smith on 23 Mary 1840 in Grahamstown possibly because she was already pregnant with their daughter Ann who was born abt 1840. They were divorced because of his affair with Ann Pote where Sarah Mitchley witnesses them sleeping together at Beggars Bush.
He then married Ann Marie Pote on 25 February 1850 at Grahamstown. Marriage : https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSKD-JSHF-6?cc=282...
They had:
John Daniel Charlotte Daniel * 28 Mar 1841 Elizabeth Daniel * Aug 1842 Robert James Daniel * 1 July 1844 Charles Daniel * abt 1848
Peter died 21 May 1852 in a field at Glenwyn, Grahamstown.
