About Ann Harrison (Harper) Bellette, Convict "Lady Juliana" 1790
On 24th Sep 1787 in the morning in Bristol, Ann Harper (17) along with Margaret Williams (13), Alice Fideo and Elizabeth Seney (18) were alll on Bristol Bridge selling grapes. Margaret told the girls she knew where they could get a silver teapot and they went togerther over the Drawbridge to Denmark Street and stopped at number 11 which was owned by Nancy Clutson. Margaret unlatched the door and went inside where she stayed for some time.
When she came back out the four girls ran away to Medcliff Church Yard. Margaret showed the other girls 9 silver teaspoons, 2 silver tablespoons and a silver cream jug. They all agreed to go to someone Norris' house on Redcliff Hill to sell the things. Alice said that Elizabeth and Margaret went into the house and when they came out they told her they'd sold 2 of the spoons and spent the money on victuals. Then Margaret gave them each 2 spoons and supposedly they all gave these to Elizabeth's brother to sell but never heard from him again.
They were found out and a few people such as maids, neighbours and a friend of Norris testified and a maid from Nancy Clutson's house also said that an amount of eight shillings were also stolen. Despite Ann not actually doing the stealing she was punished because she was aware of it and received the goods. Alice also gave evidence and went to jail. The other three including Ann were transported for seven years.

GEDCOM Note
Ann Harper (18) arrived in New South Wales 3rd June 1790 aboard the "Lady Juliana" from Plymouth.
She had been selling grapes on Bristol Bridge with Alice Fidoe and Elizabeth Seine on 24th September 1787 when Margaret Williams (aged 13) told them that she knew where they could steal some silver in a house across the draw-bridge.
The others waited outside whilst Williams stole a silver cream jug and eleven silver spoons from Mrs. Clutson's house at 11 Denmark Street. They ran to Radcliff churchyard where they decided to sell some of the spoons to a man on Radcliff Hill and spend the money on victuals.
Some of the spoons were given to James Seine, brother of Elizabeth, to sell.
After Alice Fidoe made her confession implicating Elizabeth Seine, Ann Harper and Margaret Williams they were tried at Bristol, 18th February 1788, and sentenced to transportation for seven years.
In April 1788 Alice Fidoe was tried and found guilty of receiving bed tick stolen from a shop in Bristol by James Seine. She was sentenced to transportation for fourteen years and sailed from Plymouth aboard the "Lady Juliana" with Ann Harper, Elizabeth Seine and Margaret Williams
In February 1791 Jacob Bellett and Ann Harper were jointly issued with a sow, by July they held a Sydney Town lot on Norfolk Island. They had moved to a hilly 12 acre farm at First Settler's Vale by December 1792, and by 1796 Ann held 39 acres in her own name adjacent to the twelve held by Jacob.
No record has been found of a marriage certificate, but the wording of the baptismal records of their children implies that they were married.
Jacob Bellett was a constable with a thriving 26 acre farm in 1805. He grew wheat and maize, owned a cow, 22 sheep, and 16 pigs. He sold 43 sheep and 16 lambs in December 1806 for £89/10/00, and two years later owned a cow, 29 sheep, 7 hogs and 120 bushels of maize.
Jacob and Ann Bellett and family departed Norfolk Island, 3rd September 1808 aboard the "City of Edinburgh" to travel to Hobart. They left behind them 45 cleared acres, a wooden, shingled house, a barn with a boarded floor and walls and two logged out-houses valued at £60. Jacob's stock entitlement was £82.
