About Ann Hough

James Hough and Ann Hurst: JAMES arrived in WA in 1841 on the ship "Parkfield" with his father, step-mother and siblings, settling in Australind.
James was employed as a carter in Bunbury in the 1840's. He broke his leg in 1848, won a ploughing match in 1850 on J. Scott's property and became a Sawyer in the 1860's.
A Collie labourer in the 1870's. He employed 3 TOL men between 1864-1871. A Dardanup farmer in 1877.

Later, James owned a cutter named "Star of the South" which ran aground in a severe storm in 1888 in Bunbury Harbour.

He became a whaler at Shark Bay, WA 1890's (He moved to the Frankland River about 1894).

ANN arrived with her parents and siblings at Koombana Bay, Australind aboard the sailing ship "Diadem" on the 10 April 1842.

Witnesses to their marriage were:- James Everett and Hannah Elmes.

Ann died on (her daughter's) and James Higgins' farm "Black Wattle" on the Frankland River and was buried there.
