MRS. ANN RUTLEDGE DIES IN CARTHAGE
Mrs. Ann Rutledge, widow of Adam Rutledge, former well known Adams county farmer, died in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clarence Allen, at Carthage Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Her death followed an illness of nearly two months during which paralysis was suffered.
Mrs. Rutledge, who was 83 years of age, was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John S. Nichols, early settlers in Adams county near Columbus. They came from Kentucky where their daughter was born.
Most of her life was spent on farms in Adams county and a family of 10 children was reared. Her husband died in Paloma 12 years ago and since that time Mrs. Rutledge had been making her home with her children. She had been at the home of her daughter in Carthage since last fall. The children that survive are four daughters, Mrs. Rolla E. McNeall, this city; Mrs. R. I. Fisher of Creede, Colo.; Mrs. P. W. Patterson of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Allen, and one son, Frank Rutledge. Fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive. One brothers, George Nichols, lives in Kansas City.
Mrs. Rutledge was a member of the Christian church in Columbus from which place the funeral services will be held with interment in the family lot in the Columbus cemetery.
