SERVICES HELD FOR COUNTY RESIDENT

Services were held Thursday morning of last week from the First Methodist Church for Mrs. Anna Belle Banaka, a resident of Phillips County since December 1915. Mrs. Banaka had been in failing health for the past several months and passed away at the Holyoke hospital on December 25.

Mrs. Banaka, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Thomas, was born June 30, 1888 at Atwood, Kansas and at the time of her death was 60 years, five months and 26 days of age.

She was united in marriage to August Banaka at Netawaka, Kansas on August 22, 1906. To this union were born nine children, three girls and six boys.

Mrs. Banaka was preceded in death by her husband on February 27, 1942, and two sons who were killed in service, Leslie Charles Banaka, February 21, 1945 near Luxemburg and Samuel August Banaka, July 12, 1944 near St. Lo France.

Those who mourn her passing are: Alta R. Winter, Hoquiam, Washington; Ethel I. Jones, Caldwell, Idaho; Kenneth L. Banaka, Hoquiam, Washington; Harold W. Banaka, Wray, Colorado; Marjorie E. Miner, Kimball, Nebraska; Walter E. Banaka, Lamar, Nebraska; Donald V. Banaka, Wray, Colorado; and 13 grandchildren besides her mother, three sisters and two brothers.

Interment was made in the Holyoke cemetery and pallbearers were Dale Martin, Elmer Smith, Sherman Knight, Edgar Groseclose, Charles Dodson and Guy Stroup.
