About Mabel Viola Dunbar
Mabel was the daughter of Samuel Rouse Thomas and Rosina Richards. From "The Holton Recorder " Samuel Rouse Thomas, son of James and Susanna Thomas, was born December 16, 1860, in Kentucky, and died at his home southwest of Netawaka, Kansas, February 15, 1933, aged 72 years. His parents moved with him to Kansas when he was about four and a half years old. He has spent most of his life in Brown and Jackson counties, Kansas, nearly 30 years in this community and the last 26 years in the present home place, which he has taken great pride in improving and beautifying. Mr. Thomas was noted in the community for his expert gardening.
On June 20, 1885, he was married to Rosina Richards. To them seven children were born, six of whom survived.
