About Mary Earle
Buried on the plantation on Corsica Creek; there were seven children: Michael, Anna Maria, Richard Tilghman, Richard Tilghman, Henrietta Maria, Joseph, and James, jr. Earle [1]
She would certainly not have been a "Mary Maria", as that kind of doubling was not and still isn't done. She may, however, have been referred to as "Mary" in some sources and "Maria" in others.
Discussed in her father’s will:
Tilghman, Richard, Queen Anne's Co., 25th Apr., 1737; 14th Feb., 1738.
To grandson Richard Earle and hrs., 400 A. "Adventure Addition" nr. head of Corsica Ck., sd. land having been in poss. of his father James Earle for some years; sd. Richard dying during minority to pass to grandson James Earle, and hrs. … To grand-dau. Anna Maria Earl personalty, which with what has heretofore been given to her mother, late decd., may suffice.
