Anna M. Swan born in Pottawatomie County, Kansas, December,24, 1879, and departed this life at Ong, Nebraska, February 22, 1935, at the age lot 55 years, one month and 28 days. At an early age she moved with her parents to Elwood, Nebr., where shegrew to womanhood and on Easter Sunday, April 7, 1901, she was unitedin marriage to L. R. Hansberry of Arnold, Nebraska. To this union five children were born. One son, Chas. William preceded her in death at the age of two years. The three sons and daughter were with, her during her last sickness. When her husband entered the ministry she too, consecrated her life tothe work and through 25 years of parsonage life she was a true servant of herMaster, and was a wise counselor and friend to all the people among whom they ministered. As a wife and mother she was such that no words can be found that fullyexpress what she was. Most wonderful all her life, now she is glorious. For years she had been a moist patient sufferer and although notstrong at any time she carried on more than her share in every churchundertaking. Rev. and Mrs. Hansberry came to Ong in September and have both established themselves among the people as real friends. Mrs. Hansberryalthough frail in health, was a constant attendant at all services connected with the church and also delighted to accompany her husband onhis calls among the people. To know her was to love her. Not only herhusband and children, but all who came to know her, "Rise up and callher blessed." Mrs. Hansberry was stricken with paralysis in the early morning of February18 and although she rallied and was able to talk to her family andfriends until Wednesday evening, her condition, was such that she enteredlife eternal at 11:35 a. m. February 22, 1935. She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband, Rev. L.R. Hansberry, pastor of the Ong Methodist Church ; three sons and their families, Harold of Arapahoe, Ray of Wilsonville, Lyman of De Witt and the only daughterand family, Mrs. Marie Suiter of De Witt, three granddaughters andone grandson, her aged mother, Mrs. H B Daniels of Elwood, one brother,F. W. Swan, of Velma, Nebr. two sisters, Mrs. Mamie Burt of Elwoodand Mrs. Inar Anderson of Holdrege, with a host of other relatives andmany friends whose heartfelt sympathy is with those who have sustainedsuch a loss. The body was taken Saturday to the home of Mrs. Hansberry's mother,Mrs. H. B. Daniels, at Elwood, Nebr., where funeral services were heldat 2 p. m. on Friday, March 1, at the M. E. Church, with the pastor, Rev. Slagg in charge. The sermon was preached by Rev. Johansen of Hastings, superintendent of the Hastings district. Interment was made in the Elwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were the Rev. A. L. Wright of Bertrand, Rev. Geo. Seickof Arapahoe, Rev. K. H. Clifton of Alma, Rev. E. H. Unvert of Eustis, Rev John Shawn., retired minister of Eustis and A. B. Heckenlively, superintendent of the Sunday school at Elwood. Other ministers present atthe funeral services were Rev. Dr. B. L. Story of Kearney, former districtsuperintendent of Holdrege district and Rev. Dr. Louis Kaub of Lexington. ************************************************************* The entire community was greatly saddened early Friday afternoon atthe report of the passing of Mrs. Hansberry at 11:30 at her home here. She had lain in a semi-conscious condition since suffering a paralyticstroke early Monday morning. During this time all possible was done forher, but from the first there was slight hopes for her recovery. Mrs. Hansberry has been in very frail health for a number of years, beingafflicted with enlargement of the heart and rheumatism. The children,Mary (Mrs. Suiter), and Lyman of De Witt, Ray of Wilsonville and Harold of Arapahoe and their families, also her sister, Mrs. Mamie Burt ofElwood, and a sister of Rev. Hansberry, Mrs. Ada Pierce, of near Arnold, were with her during the last week. Rev. and Mrs. Hansberry cameto Ong in September, he having been appointed pastor of the MethodistChurch here. During this short time they have won a large place in thehearts of the people and our deepest sympathy is for Rev. Hansberrywho has so efficiently and cheerfully carried on his work in relation to thechurch while caring tenderly for his wife and discharging home duties and also for the children, who, though established in homes of their own, have lost their best friend, their mother. The body of Mrs. Hansberry accompanied by Rev. Hansberry andher sister, Mrs. Mamie Burt, was taken to Elwood, Nebr., on Saturdaywhere her aged mother still lives and where the funeral services will takeplace at the Methodist Church on Friday afternoon, March 1, at 2 p. m.
