About Anna Maria Salome Lambert

Maria Salome (Sarah) Hamacher was baptised on Mar 24, 1745 in the Reformed Church in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and died in Mar 1822 around the age of 77.

    She married Adam Lambert on Oct 27, 1769 in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lancaster, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.  The church records, page 259, are translated as follows:  "by authority of a license dated the twenty seventh Day of October 1769 joined together in holy Matrimony Adam Lambert of Derry Township in the County of Lancaster and Province of Pennsylvania, yeoman, and Sarah Hamacher of the same place, Spinster." (Trinity Lutheran Church Records, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Vol 2, 1767-1782, translated and edited by Debra D. Smith and Frederick S. Weiser, Clossen Press, Apollo, PA, 1995, p. 177)  Adam was born ca. 1749 in Germany, and died between Jun and Sep 1816 in Augusta County, Virginia about the age of 67.

On Sep 19, 1797, Sarah and Adam sold 25 acres to Able Griffith in Augusta County Virginia. (See biography of Adam Lambert for further details.)
On Jan 4, 1822, Sarah wrote her will. It is filed in the Augusta County, Virginia Circuit Court Book 4, pages 4-5. It stated:
"In the name of God Amen. I Sarah Lambert of the County and State of Virginia sinsibly feeling the decays of Nature, altho of perfect mind and memory, make this my last will and Testament in manner of form as followeth.
"Viz: After my just debts and funeral expenses are paid my will is that my property be divided in the following manner,
"Item 1st: my wearing apparel I wish equally divided among [struck out] between my children [struck out] three daughters Sally, Esther & Anna
"Item: 2nd.: I leave my Daughter Anna forty dollars as a small compensation for her care and felial affetion for me in my old age, I also bequeath her my own bed and furnitures, all the cloth, linnen, flax, and yarn which may be on hand at my death, together with a bureau my trap tea kettle, four bowls, three pewter plates and half a dozen table spoons, her choice, also my best oven with a lid and bail, and skillet with lid. I leave her my looking glass
"Item 3rd.: To my son Christian, I leave ten Dollars.
"Item 4th.: To my son Peter, I leave eight Dollars.
"Item 5th.: To my son John, I leave the interest for three years on a bond I hold on him of $100.
"Item 6th.: To my daughter Mary I leave five Dollars after the before mentioned Legacies are paid. I leave the whole balance of my property to be equally divided among my Eleven Children. Viz. Christian, Abram, Adam, Francis, John, David, Samuel, Peter, Sally, Esther and Anna.
" I Constitute and ordain my son Christian Lambert my hole and sole executor of this my last will and Testament and I utterly revoke disclaim and disallow of all former wills &c by me made, and I constitute this and no other to be my last will and Testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 4th day of January 1822.

"At a Court Continued and held for Augusta County on Monday the 25th day of March 1822. This Last will and Testament of Sarah Lambert deceased, was presented in court and proved by the oaths of Benjamin Bryan and Daniel Cupps two of the witnesses thereto, and ordered to be read and on the motion of Christian Lambert who made oath thereto and together with George Stange his security, entered into and acknowledged their bond in the penalty of $1000 conditioned as the Law requires which bond is ordered to be recorded, Certificate is granted him for obtaining a probat on the said will according to law. Teste Erasmus Stribling Cale."
Sarah did not include her children Mary and either Elizabeth Ann or Nancy Anna in her will.
The inventory of her estate was recorded on pages 303-306. "The following contains a bill of personal Estate of Sarah Lambert deceased. Appraised by David Bell, Martin Coyner, & John Luitzer, three of appraisers named in the order of court for that purpose Aprile 10th 1822." The following are some of the entries of the inventory: "One Cow $12.00, One bed & bedstead 12.00, one bed & bedstead 12.00, one pine chest 1.25, one loom 8.00, two meat tubs .70, one wash tub .00, one iron hatchet 1.65, 18 flour barrels and one cask 1.00, one small spinning weel 1.50, three reads and two pair of loom gears 3.00, one friing pan and sifter and weelbarrow 1.00, 16 straw and split baskets 1.30, 16 milk crocks 1.50, 2 tin buckets and one watering pot 1.00, 4 cow chains 2.00, one half bushel, one cream pot, one large straw basket, two old bucket and sundries, two shovels, one grape, two bells, one hoble, garden hoe, one Iron Kettle and flour barrel, 6 bays, old, smoothing irons, one coffee mill and candle stick, cupboard, furniture, tin ware, ladle, and flesh fork 13.00, saddle bags, 8 table cloths, 8 towels, chest bottles sundries, one chest and box, one flour barrel & dough trough, chain, crook & fire shovel, one pot and oven, two ditto and skillet, two tin bucket, two coffee pot and tin bowl, one table, one dresser, 6 Windsor chairs, one rocking chair, one split bottom chair & table, one gankey block, a number of books and one almanack, one dictionary, one pad lock single bolt, 75 lb. bacon at 6 cents 4.50, one salt box, one churn, 5 bee boxes, chicken at 4 cents per tread supposed to be 40 or 50 one pair large shears .50 2.00."
Also recorded in Augusta County, VA Book 13, page 77: "Augusta County Court Term 1823 The appraisement bill of the Estate of Sarah Lambert dsed being returned the same is ordered to be recorded. Teste Jefferson Kinney. Sale bill of the personal property of Sarah Lambert decead. 16th Aprile 1823." The following are some of the entires of the sale:
