2 March 1627: Charter by Mr Robert Bruce of Wester Kennet, (in implement of a Contract of Marriage, entered into between him, and Margaret Colvill, relict of Patrick Murray of Perdewis, on behalf of Agnes Murray their daugter; with consent of James Colvill of Balbedie, Mr Robert Colvill Minister of Culross and Mr Alexander Colvill of Blair, Justitiar Depute of Scotland, her Trustees;) to the said Agnes Murray, his future spouse, in liferent, of the half of the lands of Wester Kennet, lands called the Cruiked lands, and Petfoulden, lying in the barony and bounty of Clackmannan - To be holden of the said Robert Bruce, of and under Sir Robert Bruce of Clackmannan Knight, and Robert Bruce, fiar thereof, his son, for payment of a half penny yearly, as the proportion of a penny, for the whole lands of Wester Kennet. 17 November 1640: Renunciation by Anna Murray spouse of Mr Robert Bruce of Wester Kennet (vide GD11/115) bearing that by Contract Matrimonial, entered into between her and her said husband, she stood infeft in liferent in the half of the lands of Wester Kennet, but she having, in consideration of her said husbands estate, and the debts contracted upon the said lands, in winning and drying of the Coal therein, as also in consideration that Elizabeth Gaw, mother of the said Robert Bruce, was also infeft in the other half of said lands of Wester Kennet, and others, Therefore, and for the love she has and bears to David Bruce, apparent of Wester Kennet, her son, and for the well-being of the House thereof, she renounces her said liferent on said land, and restricts herself to the rents thereof, and her right to the coal, competent to her, by said contract, except what she shall use in her own house. 12 June and 25 June 1656: Clackmannanshire: Disposition by David Bruce of Kennets, eldest son and apparent heir of Robert Bruce of Schanbody, to Annas Murray, lady Kennet, his mother, of the Wodebank and other lands lying in the lands of Easter Kennet, in implement of his marriage contract with Marjory Young, daughter of David Young of Kirktoun, 12-25 June 1656. Because his father "intends and purposes to use policy and mak industry" in the lands of Craigtoun "by erecting and building of some saltpannes and salter houses"; the said David being also obliged after his father's death to furnish his mother with "two carts of small coalles and one cart of great coalles for her awin fyre weeklie and for brewing of her awin and her childrens drink ... she alwayis payand the expenses of hewing and bearing allennerly and careying them home to her awin durre".
