Biography

Uncertain Origin

Ann the wife of George Squire is thought by some to be Ann Wheeler as she appears in the will of Ann Wheeler of Fairfield, wife of Thomas Wheeler, who left her a petticoat, 21 Aug. 1659.<ref> History and Genealogy of the Families of Old Fairfield, by Donald Lines Jacobus (Fairfield, Connecticut: Daughters of the American Revolution, 1930). Vol.I, p. 663. </ref> John Wheeler and Agnes Yeoman are sometimes listed in genealogies as her parents (Ann Wheeler). Others suggest Jonathan Wheeler and Mary L. Fuller, and another view is that sheis the Ann, baptized in Cranfield, Bedfordshire, England 20 Feb 1617,daughter of Thomas Wheeler and Ann Halsey. Do you mean 15 Feb 1617/8, which baptism is claimed as being Hannah, her putative sister? As this Ann is already flagged as uncertain origin, this must add to the doubts. As Hannah's links to her parents are confirmed by their wills this Ann should probably be detached from her alleged parents
